PTI news agency reported that at least one car in a parking lot in Connaught Place was badly damaged after a tree was uprooted and fell on it. Trees were also uprooted on Janpath Road and one such tree fell on BJP MP Parvesh Verma’s car which was badly damaged. ANI news agency also showed footage of a DTC bus stuck under a fallen tree, causing traffic to rumble near Sanchar Bhawan. Air conditioners installed on buildings also fell on cars parked on the street in Sansad Marg.

Traffic jams were reported at key intersections across the capital while several flights were diverted.

The IMD, for its part, had predicted showers. “Thunderstorms with light to moderate rain and gusty winds with a speed of 30 to 50 km / h would occur in the adjacent areas of the west, northwest, south, southwest from Delhi, Rohtak, Bhiwani, Charkhi Dadri, Mattanhail, Jhajjar, Farukhnagar, Kosali, Sohana, Rewari, Palwal, Bawal, Nuh, Aurangabad, Hodal (Haryana) Sikandra Rao, Hathras (UP) Bhiwari (Rajasthan)”, had indicated the meteorological office.
