Mahoning Valley auto sales plummet in September – Business Journal Daily

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – In September, residents of Mahoning Valley purchased 4,682 new and used vehicles, down 72 from a month earlier, according to the Greater Cleveland Automobile Dealers Association.

However, where new vehicle sales fell year over year, used vehicle sales jumped triple digits. New car sales to buyers in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties totaled 2,094 – a decrease of 31.2% from a year ago – while used car sales were 2,497, an increase of 346 cars compared to September 2020.

Among local dealers, Boardman’s Taylor Kia led new car sales with 130 sales last month, followed by Boardman’s Kufleitner Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Trucks with 106, Sweeney Buick GMC with 101, Fairway Ford with 88 and Fred Martin Ford. with 87.

For used car sales, Fred Martin Ford was the # 1 store in the tri-county area with 129 sales. Greenwood Chevrolet with 118 and Fairway Ford with 106 also hit triple digits.

In the 22 counties of the auto dealership association, combined sales of new and used cars fell 11.7% to 7,744.

Fairway Ford ranked fifth in the region with 260 vehicles sold last month, followed by Boardman’s Taylor Kia, ranked sixth with 246. Fred Martin Ford was No. 8 with 232 and Sweeney Buick GMC was No. 10 with 214.
