ADESA, a digital marketplace provider for used wholesale vehicles supported by more than 70 vehicle logistics center locations across North America, on October 28 unveiled a new tool to improve the reconditioning process and improve return on investment for sellers, according to a press release. .

By tapping into millions of vehicle, repair and sales data points, the technology arms sellers with actionable repair suggestions that maximize profit opportunities on reselling these vehicles through the wholesale channel. The new tool shows how specifically tailored repairs and upgrades will improve vehicle quality, helping vehicles become frontline ready faster.

“With instant access to recommended recognition services and everyone’s ROI, this new tool makes it easier than ever for sellers to make data-driven decisions on the fly,” said John Hammer, KAR Commercial Director. Global and President of ADESA, in the press release. “We have seen impressive results throughout our pilot period, even in a hot market, thanks to our salespeople’s ability to invest in the right repairs to get the highest possible return. Plus, sellers can see all of their vehicles in one place, along with the status and location of each, from check-in to inspections, in-store work to sale.

The reconditioning tool visually displays cars as recommendations in a centralized digital location, the ADESA portal, putting access in the hands of the seller. They can see which services will improve the score and therefore increase the profits. A maximum cost can be set to keep vehicle repairs and upgrades within budget while increasing the wholesale value.

“With just a few clicks, salespeople are able to decide which services to use based on improved ratings, spend and ROI,” said Srisu Subrahmanyam, COO of ADESA. “With bumps in the improvement in quality, we are drawing more attention to the vehicle, as many customers filter by quality when evaluating inventory to buy. Our salespeople are not the only ones to benefit from this; Dealers are reaping the benefits of better, retail-ready vehicles, reducing the valuable cycle time between when they buy at auction and when they can deliver to their retail customers.

ADESA is a business unit of the global digital used vehicle wholesale market operator KAR Auction Services, Inc. dba KAR Global (NYSE: KAR).
