2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 70th Anniversary Edition May Have Leaked

At the Los Angeles Auto Show last year, Chevrolet displayed a display of model C8 Corvettes painted in the full range of available exterior colors. The problem, as Corvette Forums member who posted exhibit photos made, was that the Bowling Green assembly plant that builds Corvettes is limited to 12 colors in its paint shop, but the LA Auto Show exhibit featured 14 models of Corvette in 14 colors. Another Corvette fan said he was standing near the screen when Chevy representatives appeared and removed the screen. Corvette Blogger peg the two additional shades like a Pearl White and a Carbon Flash Metallic Black. The idea was that it could be two replacement colors arriving for the 2023 model year, but the Carbon Flash Black Metallic was used in 2012 for Centennial Edition Corvettes celebrating 100 years of Chevrolet. Its return could be a 70th anniversary edition Corvette celebrating the original 1953 sports car.

Fast forward to last week, when a Corvette Blogger contributor visited the 2023 Corvette Z06 viewer. Apparently, in addition to finding the standard Z06 configurations that have been online for weeks, he finds a 70th Anniversary Corvette Z06 and descriptions of its additional features. The first two special attributes are two available exterior colors: three-coat Pearl White Metallic with optional Satin Matrix Gray stripes, or Carbon Flash Metallic with optional Satin Black Metallic stripes.

Chevy eventually removed the entire viewer, replacing it with a GM page that required an employee login. The visualizer is back, with no mention of the model that made the Vette-sphere hum. Of course, the page hadn’t been taken down until people had retrieved all the listed information about what was on the way. According to the discoverers, each of the commemorative trim gets its own VIN sequence, Edge Red brake calipers behind Carbon Flash wheels with Edge Red stripe and 70th anniversary wheel center caps, Carbon Flash mirror caps and spoilers. , an Edge Red engine cover, rear bumper protector and trunk lid, and special badging. Interiors will come with white GT2 Competition seats with red stitching and red seat belts, a suede-covered steering wheel and more badging. And so the owner can let the general public know what he’s driving when he’s away from the car, there will be a custom luggage set with red stitching and more 70th anniversary logos.

There was no mention of engine upgrades for this version, but the images supposedly taken from the viewer showed cars with the Z07 performance package, which adds features like bigger brakes, Michelin Cup 2 tires and the FE7 magnetic suspension. The six anniversary models created from 1978 to present, and the centenary edition from 2012, also did not benefit from performance improvements. On top of that, it’s the first year of the new Z06, and its naturally aspirated 670-hp V8 should be good enough to start with.

We should find out if this is real in the next few months, with the 2023 Z06 due to go into production on May 9.
